Are all MBA courses 100% online?

Yes, all courses are completed through our online Learning Management System. Course content is highly interactive, and most work is done asynchronously - in your own time. You will occasionally be required to log into the client, and group sessions live and those live sessions will be scheduled in advance.

How long does it take to complete the MBA Online program?

Whether you want to build expertise to grow in business or have been working in the industry for some time and want to prepare for leadership - we’ve got you. Complete our 36-credit MBA program in less than 16 months.

Is work experience a requirement for admission?

While prior work experience can benefit your application, it is not required.

If my bachelor's degree is in a non-business-related field, what concentrations am I able to pursue?

You don’t have to hold a business-related undergraduate degree to apply for Suffolk’s MBA Online program. By completing our Business Essentials concentration, you can complete the program in the same amount of time as someone with extensive business experience. In Business Essentials, you will learn the fundamentals of Marketing, Accounting, Finance and Operations and walk away with a toolbox of transferable skills.

What are the faculty members like for the MBA Online?

What support will I receive during the application/admissions process?

Is the GRE or GMAT required for admission?

A GMAT or GRE score is not required for our online MBA program.

I’m an international student, what are the requirements for admission to the program?

In addition to our general graduate admission requirements, international students may need to submit supplemental materials, including TOEFL or IELTS scores. Our enrollment advisors can provide more information on this during the application process.

What MBA-Plus graduate certificate options are available to MBA students?

MBA Plus is an option for those completing our Business Essentials concentration. Students can add three extra courses to their MBA curriculum and walk away with a specialized certificate in Accounting, Business Analytics, Healthcare and more. Do I have to select a concentration?

Not sure about a concentration? You do not have to declare one immediately. You can wait until you’re well into the program. Use the opportunity to think about your goals from a strategic career perspective. Then, when you’re ready, select a concentration that aligns with your professional interests and objectives. Students can choose to specialize in Accounting, Finance, Business Intelligence, Health Sector Management or our general MBA track: Business Essentials.

Can I change to pursue a dual degree after starting my MBA?

Like our concentrations - you don't have to decide this right away. You can declare interest in our dual degree options before starting your electives in the MBA program's first year. Admissions will guide you through your MSA or MSBA application, including submitting a personal statement addressing why you want to pursue a dual degree.

How many hours a week should I anticipate spending on the program?

You complete one seven-week course at a time and can expect to spend approximately 15-20 hours per week studying.

What exactly does “experiential learning” mean?

It means you can “learn by doing” through firsthand experiences. We use live workshop sessions in core and foundational courses alike. These highly interactive, collaborative learning sessions bring in professionals from Boston’s renowned biotech, finance, healthcare, and technology sectors to promote the development of distinct business competencies. When these professionals present actual business challenges, you’ll have the chance to collaborate with them to help develop solutions that can be tested and implemented in the real world.

Examples of challenges addressed in recent live workshops include:

  • From a biotech manufacturer adjusting to competition and location: How can we keep biomedical manufacturing in Massachusetts?
  • From a real estate developer looking to develop strategy: What is the best use of a new space to leverage Boston’s expertise?

  • From a nonprofit looking to innovate: How can we leverage Boston’s (and other regions’) innovative technological capability to become a leader in innovation for our clients?
Is the Suffolk MBA Online program different from the on-campus program?

No. There’s more flexibility because your program will be online and course materials are available 24/7. The curricula and faculty are the same as the on-campus program.

What is it like to take a course online?

It’s a great experience, and we work hard to help you succeed! Our faculty actively interact with and mentor students throughout our online programs. The course structure and design support a high-touch learning environment. Plus, our students are each assigned a student success advisor who can provide personalized help.

Can you tell me a bit more about the skills I will develop through the MBA Online?

From our core curricula to concentrations that deepen your understanding of a specific business area, each program is focused on educating business professionals through experiential learning. Does “live” workshop mean I’ll have to be online at a specific time?

Yes, occasionally. There will be scheduled workshops or synchronous live sessions where we will ask you to log in at a specific time to participate. You will get plenty of notice as to when these events will happen so you can plan accordingly. If you are unable to attend, we make it easy to connect with a faculty member and see if there are other options. A recording may be available.

How much does the program cost?

Suffolk’s online MBA program can be completed in 36-credits. Tuition costs $1,243 per credit hour for the 2022/2023 academic year. There’s also a one-time $50 application fee and $200 technology fee (per semester), billed on the invoice in A term.
